Advanced Download Manager (Chrome extension) · Effective date: 30 September 2026
Summary
The extension is local-first. Your rules, settings and download information stay in your browser. There is no account, no analytics and no server of ours that receives your data.
Permissions and why they are needed
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
downloads | Rename new downloads and place them in folders according to your rules; list, search, retry and remove downloads. |
downloads.open | Open a finished download when you press Enter or double-click it. |
storage | Save your rules, settings and the list of which rule renamed which download, locally. If you turn on Pro sync, your rules and profiles are also kept in Chrome sync storage. |
alarms | Schedule retries of failed downloads, the optional daily cleanup and checks of pages you watch. |
downloads.ui | Optionally hide Chrome's own download bubble when you choose to use this extension instead. |
| Access to websites (optional) | Only requested the first time you use “Save as one ZIP” or “Scan linked pages”, to fetch the files and pages you selected, or when you add a page to watch (access to that one site only, so it can be checked in the background). You can revoke it any time in chrome://extensions. |
contextMenus | Add “Save with rules”, “Save using rule” and “Download all links in selection” to the right-click menu. |
activeTab, scripting | Only when you click “Grab from page” or “Download all links in selection”: read the links and image addresses on the current tab so you can pick files to download. Nothing is read in the background, and page content is never stored or sent anywhere. |
notifications (optional) | Only requested if you turn on “Notify when a routed download finishes”. |
api.lemonsqueezy.com | Activate, validate and deactivate a Pro license key. |
Data stored on your device
- Rules and settings you create.
- For downloads a rule renamed: download id, original file name, rule name and time (capped at the latest 2,000).
- Onboarding and rating-prompt state (dates and counters only).
- Download queue (URLs you chose to batch-download, until they start), retry counters, rule counters for
{n}, and the date and counts of the last automatic cleanup. - If you buy Pro: the license key, activation instance id, plan and last validation time.
- Pages you watch: their address, chosen file types and folder, check times, and the file addresses already seen on them (capped at 2,000 per page).
Clipboard and form data are never read. Page content is read only when you ask for it (Grab from page, Scan linked pages, pages you watch), and file content only when you ask for a ZIP; both are processed in your browser and never sent anywhere or stored.
Data sent off your device
Only when you use Pro: the license key and activation instance id are sent to Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider and merchant of record, to activate and periodically validate the license. Checkout happens on Lemon Squeezy's hosted page; we never see your card details.
Pages you watch are requested from their own website, like opening them in a tab. If you turn on sync, your rules and profiles are stored in Chrome sync storage through your Google account (see Google's privacy policy); we have no server and cannot read them. Download history, settings and the license are never synced.
Retention and deletion
If you turn on automatic cleanup, the extension removes old download history entries and, only if you enable it separately, deletes installer files older than the number of days you choose.
Data stays until you remove it. Settings → Delete all local data erases everything the extension stored, including the synced copy of your rules. Uninstalling the extension also removes it. Exported backups contain only rules and settings and are saved only when you click Export.
